Mandela to Receive Arthur Ashe Courage Award at 2009 ESPYs

South Africa President Nelson Mandela will receive the Arthur Ashe Courage Award at The 2009 ESPYs Co-Presented by Under Armour and Land Rover. His daughter, Zindzi Mandela, and grandson, Zondwa Mandela, will accept the award on his behalf.
ESPN presents the Arthur Ashe Courage Award annually to individuals whose contributions transcend sports.
The 2009 ESPYs ceremony is being taped Wednesday, July 15, from the Nokia Theatre at L.A. LIVE in Los Angeles, and it will air Sunday, July 19 at 9 p.m. ET on ESPN and ESPN HD. Samuel L. Jackson is this year’s host.
