Campus Clips: New Time Warner Cable SportsNet Scoops Up Some Mountain West Live-Game Rights

Time Warner Cable’s new sports network, Time Warner Cable SportsNet, will be the home for San Diego State, UNLV and Fresno State football and basketball games this season. The network launches Oct. 1 and will broadcast live 12 Mountain West Conference football games and at least 24 Mountain West basketball games in 2012-13. Time Warner Cable SportsNet’s college football schedule begins with Fresno State at Colorado State on Saturday, Oct. 6. …ESPN’s 2013 Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) men’s college basketball regular-season schedule will feature 106 conference games across ESPN, ESPN2 and ESPNU as well as the ESPN3 simulcasts of syndicated matchups. The schedule is highlighted by the return of the weekly ACC Sunday Night Basketball franchise on ESPNU and ACC action on ESPN’s Super Tuesday, Wednesday Night Hoops, Thursday Night Showcase and Saturdays. ESPN and the ACC are beginning a new 15-year agreement for exclusive rights to every conference game. Through a sublicense arrangement with ESPN, Raycom Sports will continue its long-standing position as the syndication home of ACC content for over-the-air and regional cable network distribution. …The Idaho State Board of Education voted to let the University of Idaho compete in the FCS as an independent, due to the mass defections from the WAC that will leave the team without enough schools to play.
