unnamed-22The 2016 Democratic National Convention is expected to host more than 50,000 people, including the U.S. President, senior leadership of the Party, members of Congress, convention delegates, as well as national and international media.

Based on 2012 convention viewership, which reached a peak of 35.7 million on the last day of the event, tens of millions are expected to watch or stream the DNC.

“Today’s citizens are perhaps more informed on the election than ever before, thanks to the important role of the internet and a nonstop news cycle,” says Anthony Christie, Chief Marketing Officer, Level 3. “Voters expect 24-hour access to the Democratic National Convention events and presentations, and Level 3 is proud to provide the infrastructure and capabilities for efficient and secure delivery of convention coverage.”

Level 3 will provide dark fiber, video circuits, long haul video and ancillary services to support the global delivery of the event. The company has a history of supporting U.S. presidential conventions, having provided media delivery services for both the 2008 and 2012 Democratic National Conventions.

“Level 3 has a proven record of delivering some of the most-watched sports, entertainment and political events, including the 2008 and 2012 Democratic National Conventions, and we are delighted to be working with them again,” says Andrew Binns, CIO of the Democratic National Convention.
