Snell Advanced Media Welcomes Phil Myers, Promotes Ed McGivern

Snell Advanced Media (SAM) has announced the appointment of Phil Myers to lead its IP product range and promotion of Ed McGivern to Head of North America Sales.

Myers has in excess of 20 years’ experience of product management and business development and has held a number of technology leadership roles within the industry, most recently for Grass Valley within the EMEA region where he was responsible for architecting digital media workflows and IP solutions. He previously worked at CVP Group, Pinnacle Systems and Sony and co-founded Oddfish films in 1997.snell2

“I am delighted to be joining SAM at this time. I’ve witnessed first-hand the excitement that SAM has generated in the market and I am eager to bring my experience and background to help to further develop SAM’s compelling proposition in IP,” says Myers. “This is an exciting time in the industry and in particular for SAM and I am looking forward to attending NAB in my new role.”

“I’m delighted we have secured someone of Phil’s caliber to lead our IP product range and have no doubt that he will make a significant contribution in this area,” says Robert Szabo-Rowe, EVP and General Manager Live Production and Infrastructure.

Ed McGivern joined the company in June 2015 providing regional sales and strategic account responsibility. Prior to joining SAM, McGivern was Regional VP, North America for Imagine Communications.  Prior to that, he held high-level sales and management positions with Harris Broadcast/Harris Corporation, Grass Valley, Signiant, and Triveni Digital.snell1

“Ed is an established sales and management professional, having spent over 20 years in our industry selling high valued technology solutions and successfully leading sales organizations,” says Russ Johnson, SVP, Americas. “Ed is taking over the role opened up by the retirement of Terry Barnum, who headed up North American sales for the last 20 years of his nearly 25 years with the Snell companies.”

“I am thrilled to lead the North American sales team after having worked with this highly talented and knowledgeable group of people since joining the company,” says McGivern. “SAM is making significant inroads in North America and I look forward to the team continuing to expand upon that success.”

“Ed’s high energy coupled with his strong team leadership skills, technical background and great relationships with key accounts, broadcast groups and channels organizations well position him to successfully lead the SAM’s North American direct sales organization,” says Russ Johnson, SVP, Americas.
