Sacramento Kings Become First NBA Team To Use Facebook 360 Live

Digital team deploys 360fly 4K camera to capture production

Last week, the Sacramento Kings became the first team in the NBA to produce a Facebook 360 Live stream. The Kings Digital team deployed a 360fly 4K camera to capture members of the team’s Dancers and Dunkers squads as they practiced behind the scenes.

The Sacramento Kings' digital team used 360fly camera technology to produce its Facebook Live 360 show.

Live 360 enables the content producer to stream 360 footage — from any 360-compatible camera that supports live streaming — to Facebook using its Live API.

Live 360, the newest feature of Facebook Live, debuted last month when the social-media giant partnered with National Geographic live from the Mars Desert Research Station facility in Utah. On the sports side, the FIFA Football Awards Facebook page produced some Live 360 videos in the build-up to last month’s FIFA Football Awards ceremony.

Says Facebook, “Live 360 video will be available to more pages via the Live API in the coming months, and we look forward to rolling it out more broadly for all pages and profiles in 2017.”
