Intelsat Provides Transmission Services for Multitude of Sports Events

Founded in 1964, Intelsat has provided transmission services for milestone events, including enabling live television coverage of every Olympics since 1968. The company supplies video, data, and voice connectivity for leading media and communications companies, internet-service providers, and government organizations.

“For example, Prism has supported multiple sporting events, like Luke Aikens Free Fall from an airplane, professional golf in Calgary, and the eight-day Amgen Bike Tour of California,” he continues. “For the bike tour, PSSI Global Services used IntelsatOne Prism to successfully broadcast multiple television, voice, and internet feeds from a single managed platform. The end result? Minimal advance preparation time, a decrease in engineering resources onsite, and increased cost-effectiveness.”

PSSI has also used Prism to provide video, phone connectivity, and internet services to successfully broadcast the August 2016 Canadian Pacific Women’s Open LPGA Tour in Calgary, as well as the 2016 live television coverage of skydiver Luke Aikins. With Prism, PSSI was able to provide multiple VoIP lines and internet connectivity to the onsite personnel. And, since the IntelsatOne Prism platform offers dedicated and guaranteed megabit service, they didn’t have to worry about whether cellphones would work or be concerned about congestion and reliability.
