SVG College Sports Summit: Social, Streaming Experts Share Tips for Maximizing Platforms

Thought leaders from Clemson, Learfield, the Atlanta Hawks, and Telescope share their expertise

Social media and streaming live video across platforms like Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube were a major theme from last week’s SVG College Sports Summit.

A panel discussion — featuring Clemson University Director of New Media Jonathan Gantt, Telescope CEO Jason George, Learfield VP, Social Media, Jack Patterson, and Atlanta Hawks Digital Content Manager Jaryd Wilson — discussed strategies for creating content on live social media, how to properly plan for live social-media productions, ways to monetize live social-media content, and much more.

Here are a few highlights:

Gantt discussed the advantages of streaming to Facebook Live and offered advice on maximizing the platform.

Wilson explained how a well-conceived plan goes a long way in creating content for live social media.

Patterson advised attendees to not shy away from social media simply because of negative statements that may appear in the comment sections.

Gantt pointed out the value of going live to social platforms directly through the camera on a mobile device.

Patterson shared his observation that athletic departments are moving away from siloed departments and into a more holistic approach to content, marketing, and overall brand-building through media.
