NAB 2017: Evertz Offers Solutions for IP Networking, UHD/HDR, More

Evertz highlighted the latest advances in its comprehensive solutions portfolio: software-defined networking, live production, big-data analytics, playout, UHD/HDR technologies, compression, RF, and remote production.

IP Now
With more than 80 deployments globally, Evertz is leading the transition to IP with its Software Defined Video Networking (SDVN) IP-based solutions. At NAB 2017, the company introduced its 25GbE products, evEDGE FPGA-accelerated compute blades, and the 5700MSC-IP IP-based Grand Master Clock and Video Master Sync Generator.

Video-Delivery Infrastructure
Introduced at NAB 2017, the 570ITXE universal on-ramp IP gateway is a converged platform capable of receiving/decoding, normalizing, and performing multiple encoding (H.264/JPEG 2000) of all uncompressed (SMPTE RDD 37 and SMPTE 2110) and compressed streams coming into a facility.

Evertz also highlighted its 3482TXE-HEVC software-defined accelerated platform. It offers multi-standard video (UHD/3G/HD/SD), multi-codec (HEVC/H.264) encoding at superior quality and in a high-density form factor. Supporting UHD distribution, the HDR-ready encoder provides superior video quality while providing the lowest latency. The company’s video-delivery platforms offer complete solutions to contribution, primary/secondary distribution, and OTT markets.

Transport and Remote Production
Two new media gateways for IP transport, evRemote (evR) and 3606FR, enable easy introduction of remote-production capability to venues, rental spaces, and production trucks. Evertz remote solutions provide a familiar interface and significant cost savings by reducing footprint, setup time, staffing and travel costs, and power consumption and by ensuring reusability.

The evRemote provides 120-Gbps switching capability along with up to 12 JPEG 2000 encoders and decoders plus support for a comprehensive range of signal types required for remote productions, including MADI, GPIO, Serial Data, and Ethernet. In addition to its various signal-aggregation duties, evRemote features dual 10GbE redundant links with integrated link testing for enhanced reliability, an optional integrated multiviewer for simple onsite monitoring, and an integrated test-signal generator.

The 3606 enables simultaneous dark-fiber and 1/10/25/40/100GbE IP transport and is signal-agnostic for the full range of video, audio, and data signals seen in the broadcast/remote production environment. In addition to the platform’s transport duties, the 3606 provides flexible routing between inputs and outputs with an 80×80 built-in 12G-SDI router and effectively replaces multiple pieces of mobile equipment all in 1RU.

“The industry is rapidly evolving with advancements requiring solutions for a diverse range of applications including IP, cloud-based playout, big-data analytics, and remote production,” says Romolo Magarelli, CEO/President, Evertz Technologies. “Our industry leadership has been predicated on addressing the needs of our customers and we look forward to serving them in the future.”

DreamCatcher Live Media and Production Suite
Evertz introduced two tools to the DreamCatcher platform: DC-LIVE-EDIT, an advanced video/audio-editing tool, and DC-MG, a media gateway and advanced content-management system that unlocks the full potential of a DreamCatcher network.

Big-Data Analytics
inSITE, Evertz’s big-data analytics engine, provides real-time centralized operational intelligence for video broadcasters. It features support for cloud-based solutions and Amazon Web Services (AWS) environments, providing customers moving systems to the cloud the visibility they need to maintain high service levels.

Cloud-Based MAM and Playout
Overture RT LIVE VM is a cost-effective, scalable playout solution with deployment options including video appliances and private and public cloud VMs. Mediator-X, Evertz’s Media Asset Management (MAM) platform is also cloud-enabled and provides media companies with a way of monetizing content while maintaining lower operating costs.

UHD and HDR
For applications from acquisition to production to playout, Evertz offers complete solutions in quad-link 3G-SDI, 12G-SDI, and IP, enabling UHD (with HDR) solutions in both new and existing facilities. At NAB 2017, Evertz highlighted the new SDR-to-HDR–conversion capabilities of its 7814UDX product family.

RF Solutions
The XPRF14 128×128 RF router offers full power, control, and I/O redundancy. It features a large touch display for ease of use, along with on-screen spectrum analyzer, gain monitoring, and video.
