NAB Awards Roundup, Part 2: Hitachi, IHSE USA, JVC, and More

The 2017 NAB Show is in the books and there is plenty of praise to go around. Here is part two of our roundup of some the big award winners from the show, including Hitachi, IHSE USA, JVC, and more.

HITACHI Z-HD5500 Studio and EFP Camera Wins NewBay Best of Show Award
The new Z-HD5500 1080p studio and field production camera from Hitachi Kokusai Electric America Ltd. (Hitachi Kokusai) has been honored as the recipient of NewBay’s Best of Show Award, presented at the 2017 NAB Show by TV Technology. Featuring Hitachi Kokusai’s latest advances in CMOS imaging technology, the Z-HD5500 cost-effectively addresses the challenges of shooting in venues and environments with low-cost or mixed-frequency LED lighting and displays.

“We are excited that the Z-HD5500 has been recognized with NewBay’s Best of Show Award,” said Sean Moran, Chief Operating Officer, Hitachi Kokusai Electric Americas. “The Z-HD5500 was designed to affordably deliver superior 1080p performance while addressing the challenges customers face in today’s evolving production environments, and this award further validates that we have succeeded in achieving those goals.”

IHSE USA Draco vario OPS+ KVM Extender Wins NewBay Best of Show Award
IHSE USA’s Draco vario OPS+ KVM extender for DisplayPort received two NewBay Best of Show Awards at the 2017 NAB Show, one from Sound & Video Contractor and the other from Government Video. At the same time, IHSE’s 486 Series Draco vario SDI-to-KVM converter modules received the Best of Show Award presented by Sound & Video Contractor.

“IHSE created the Draco OPS+ KVM to support the growing number of digital signage and command-and-control installers implementing displays equipped with Intel’s OPS+,” says Dan Holland, marketing manager for IHSE USA. “Meanwhile, with KVM being a key component in connecting digital video servers and computers throughout the broadcast ecosystem, the KVM/SDI extender makes it possible to connect directly to a KVM matrix switch without needing a secondary converter box connected to the KVM extender. We’re honored that these NewBay publications have seen fit to recognize the tremendous benefits our new products bring to the marketplace.”

JVC ProHD Portable Bridge Collects Three NewBay Best of Show Awards
JVC Professional Video’s (a division of JVCKENWOOD USA) new PB-CELL200 ProHD Portable Bridge, a bonded LTE hotspot for streaming video from multiple ProHD, 4KCAM, and JVC PTZ streaming camera models, won three Best of Show Awards presented by NewBay’s TV Technology, Digital Video, and Government Video at last month’s 2017 NAB Show. The company also received a Best of Show Award from Sound & Video Contractor for its KY-PZ100 robotic PTZ network video production camera.

“While JVC has been a pioneer in video-over-IP technology for ENG, we’re relatively new to the bonded cellular marketplace,” says Joe D’Amico, vice president of broadcast sales for JVCKENWOOD USA. “We’re honored that our ProHD Portable Bridge was recognized at NAB by so many NewBay contributors. It’s going to be a very popular option for sports, production, and live news and event coverage.”
