NAB 2017: SkyCam Introduces SkyCommand Technology for Remote Control of WildCat

The world’s leading aerial camera systems company SkyCam is creating more technological advances in its efforts to bring fans around the world a more compelling experience when watching their favorite sports events. Leveraging secure, real-time, venue-based private networks, the new SkyCommand allowing the SkyCam WildCat system to be controlled safely and reliably in a stadium or arena from a centrally located remote SkyCam studio center. SkyCommand technology creates a secure link between the computer system, pilot, and operator just as if the pilot and operator were present in-venue.

“Our patent pending technology creates the same response, speed, performance, communications and safety that a pilot and operator would experience onsite,” says SkyCam Chief Technical Officer Stephen Wharton. “Our ability to remote this core technology process allows our broadcast partners to include our uniquely identifiable WildCat camera angle, as well as key SkyCam production enhancements, such as live First & 10 markers and virtual effects. SkyCommand allows the pilot and operator to oversee multiple events from its Network Operations Center (NOC) in the same manner as current leagues review action on the fields, courts, or ice.”

“SkyCommand revolutionizes our capability to offer leagues, teams, and networks a scalable, safe, and affordable aerial-camera solution of the highest quality and technology,” adds SkyCam President/CEO Endre Buxton. “The at-home production model continues to change the landscape of how remote production is executed. This pioneering technology places us at the forefront of integrating and leveraging those technologies as easily as we do at in-venue events.”

SkyCommand is available for demonstration at 11 a.m. PT at The Switch booth (SU4324).
