Live From PyeongChang: Game Creek Video Hits the Slopes for NBC Olympics
Three of the company’s trucks are onsite to handle all Alpine events
On Saturday morning PyeongChang time, one of the Games’ top events, the men’s downhill, will be held, and, when NBC’s coverage hits the air, it will be thanks in part to Game Creek Video. Three of the company’s remote-production units — Larkspur, Justice, and Patriot — made the journey across the Pacific to serve as the hub for NBC’s coverage of all Alpine events.
Game Creek Video will be at the center of NBC Olympics coverage of Alpine athletes like U.S. superstar Lindsey Vonn.
“NBC Olympics welcomes back Game Greek Video as our facilities provider for the Alpine, Moguls, and Snowboard events at the 2018 Olympic Winter Games,” says Chip Adams, VP, venue engineering, NBC Olympics. “Game Creek has proved that they can be a trusted partner in any location or weather condition, and we are glad to have their expertise back once again for our production of the Olympics.”
NBC’s coverage will rely on Game Creek for all Alpine events at the Winter Games, including the classic events from the speed and technical hills, as well as snowboard, giant parallel slalom, ski and snowboard slopestyle, ski and snowboard cross, snowboard half-pipe, ski moguls, and ski aerials. Game Creek will provide 17 world-class staff engineers and drivers to facilitate the production. Its personnel and equipment will collectively facilitate hundreds of hours of thrilling live television.
One interesting aspect of the production is that there will not be a Game Creek truck at the technical hill (slalom events). Camera signals will be passed from the technical hill over to the speed hill, where the production team will cut the show.
