Vimeo steps up to 360 degree video standard

TheMalayMailOnline.com reports that online video streaming platform Vimeo has added 360° to its list of features, with tutorials for creators, support for 8K files, offline viewing, and bespoke apps for specific mobile headsets.

“We’re insanely thrilled to announce that Vimeo 360 is here,” Vimeo wrote in a March 8, 2017 blog post.

“Now you can upload 360 videos in stunning high quality, dig into 360 Video School lessons, find inspiration on our curated 360 channel, and oh so much more.”

A 360 Video School program is designed to help 360 pros and newcomers alike learn how to make the most of the immersive standard, while upcoming apps for GearVR and Daydream headsets — and the existing iOS and Android apps — should make it straightforward for viewers to appreciate the tech’s purpose.
