On Tuesday afternoon, more than 40 women – and a few men – convened in the North Hall for SVG’s annual Women’s Sports Media Initiative networking lunch. This year’s lunch featured a one-on-one conversation with EVS’ newly appointed Managing Director and CEO, Muriel De Lathouwer.

Prior to being named Managing Director and CEO of EVS in February of 2015, Muriel was a member of the EVS Board of Directors and chaired its Strategic Committee. She took over the role of interim president of the EVS Executive Committee in 2014. Before coming to EVS, De Lathouwer was managing director (and co-founder) of an engineering consultancy firm in energy and environmental matters. Previous career roles include Chief Marketing Officer of mobile telecom operator BASE (a subsidiary of KPN); associate principal at McKinsey in Brussels, specializing in telecom, high tech, and media sectors; and IT consultant at Accenture.

Muriel, an engineer in nuclear physics, discussed her transition into her current role at EVS and where she sees the company – and the replay-server market – headed in the coming months and years. She also shared her career challenges, achievements, lessons learned, and offered several professional tips to the audience.

SVG’s Women’s Sports Media Initiative is a networking group that aims to enhance the role of women in the creation, production, and distribution of sports content through networking opportunities like Tuesday’s lunch at NAB.
