Fraunhofer HHI Offers HEVC SDK for Real-Time Encoding/Decoding of 4K Video

April 14th, 2015 Posted in News Roundup By SVG Staff

Fraunhofer HHI (Booth SU3714) is presenting its latest HEVC software-development kit (SDK), which enables real-time encoding and decoding of 4K 60-Hz 10-bit video, thanks to its resource-efficient, multi-threaded architecture.

The codec SDK, along with its hardware codec, IP cores, and conformance test streams, suits the growing need for high-resolution video in such applications as Web streaming and high-quality TV broadcasting. A real-time encoder is being demonstrated in direct comparison with the HM reference software encoder. Whereas the HM reference software would need 142h to encode a one-minute 4K 60-Hz video, Fraunhofer HHI’s live encoder provides the same high coding efficiency.
