NAB Perspectives: Quantum discusses latest steps in ‘end-to-end workflow management’

April 13th, 2015 Posted in Headlines By David Davies

“Our focus here is on the elements that enable end-to-end workflow management, and [within that] how our users can preserve and monetise content. That has been, and continues to be, our mantra,” confirms Quantum vice-president EMEA sales & marketing Gabriel Chaher on the first day of NAB 2015.

Underlining the sentiment at this year’s show is a comprehensive showcase of the Quantum StorNext integrated system and the ways in which it enables “seamless” connections with third-party solutions. Included in the display is an explanation of how StorNext integrates with media asset management systems, non-linear editing systems and other tools to address issues including higher resolutions and burgeoning volumes of content.

Quality of content is a pivotal consideration, notes Chaher, not least in sports production “where there is such an emphasis on collaboration. [So much of contemporary sports production] involves the sharing of content. Hence StorNext can be a valuable asset in that market.”

In addition to highlighting the general benefits of the latest incarnation of StorNext, version 5, Quantum is publicising the new management and monitoring console for the StorNext platform. Entitled StorNext Connect, the console is devised to provide an ‘at-a-glance dashboard’ of a complete StorNext environment.

Further emphasising its desire to appeal “to as broad a range of customers” as possible, the StorNext Pro line has been expanded to include a further solution, StorNext Pro Foundation. This latest solution is geared towards giving a powerful yet cost-efficient asset storage solution for small- and medium-sized production workgroups.

NAB 2015 also finds Quantum introducing the StorNext QXS-5600 high-capacity, high-density disk array, which is designed to provide cost-effective storage for customers managing an increasing number of large files containing high-resolution video, images or other rich content.

The NAB Show remains a vital part of the calendar, notes Chaher, and as such “a great opportunity to highlight our latest developments in workflow management”.
