Polish state broadcaster Telewizja Polska (TVP) is expanding its fleet of HD-equipped outside broadcast vehicles with a new truck that can handle up to 20 Sony HD cameras. TVP transmits a dedicated sport channel alongside its general entertainment, news and arts services and is now supporting a growing amount of high definition programming.

The 16.5-meter long, four-meter high vehicle has been delivered to TVP by systems integrator BFE but at this stage houses only 14 Sony HDC-1550 cameras. A further six HDC-1550s are to be installed, along with 12 VTs and six EVS HD servers.

As is now common the truck has three expanding sections, one each for video, audio and the VTR/editing area. An integral part of the system is a 575x575 frame Pro-Bel Cygnus router, which is able to handle SD, HD and 3G signals.
