Echolab Corporation, a provider of professional video production switchers and broadcast tools, released the MegaKeyMD, a powerful clip player, mixer, and keyer that can serve as a networked storage device for animated graphics and video clips. The MegaKeyMD adds greater flexibility to live productions at an attractive price point. It brings more power to a smaller switcher, providing valuable mixing and keying capabilities without the expensive price tag required by an investment in a larger switcher.

"MegaKeyMD is designed to give switcher operators more freedom in mixing video for live events and live broadcast productions," said Echolab President Nigel Spratling. "In addition to providing convenient graphics and clip storage, the system acts like a miniature M/E bank, simplifying creation of compelling visual elements and supporting the output of multiple independent feeds mixed for different purposes or clients."

Echolab's new MegaKeyMD accepts both HD and SD inputs and features a two-channel internal mixer and internal linear keyer to support playout of dynamic video clips. The system is fully integrated with Echolab's Overture switcher series to support complex animated transitions through the switchers' Stinger™ feature. MegaKeyMD may also be used with Overture systems as an additional downstream keyer or mixer on any output.

The MegaKeyMD system is ideal for live events in which a video backdrop is being created independently of the main switcher output and for live productions requiring multiple branded outputs. Echolab will be showcasing the MegaKeyMD for the first time at the 2008 NAB Show.
