Bruins, Habs Game 7 sets record

Réseau des sports ( RDS); a Canadian cable channel averaged an audience of 2.03 million viewers for last night’s Game 7 win by Montreal Canadiens over the Boston Bruins. Audience levels peaked at 3.08 million viewers at the end of the game. RDS captured 52% market share for the evening.  

This is now the most-watched program ever on RDS, beating the previous record set Saturday night (April 19) during Game 6: Montreal @ Boston with 1.88 million viewers.  

RDS’s broadcast of the first round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs has been an unprecedented success for the network. Over seven Canadiens’ games, RDS averaged 1.7 million viewers. In comparison, RDS’s average audience for first round games during the 2006 playoffs, when the Canadiens faced Carolina, was 1.2 million.  

The Montreal Canadiens pulled out a 5-0 victory to advance to the Conference Semifinals.  RDS’s coverage of the Montreal Canadiens in the Conference Semifinals begins Thursday, April 24 at 7 p.m. ET.
