Third Annual Sports & Technology Research Study
The Sports Video Group and the Consumer Electronics Association has released the
third-annual “Sports & Technology Research Survey, highlighting the power
that sports content has as both a driver of HD set sales as well as other new
technologies. The survey includes our exclusive 2008 Super Bowl Briefing as
well as new data about consumer online sports viewing behavior.
The Phoenix Coyotes and Jobing.com Arena in Glendale, AZ, recently upgraded their sound system with the help of L-Acoustics line arrays, subwoofers and amplifier-processors. “The great thing about this system is is is all rigged off the high steel and it is all on moving chain motors,” says Neil Rosenbaum, Jobing.com Arena’s production manager. “At the push of a button this whole system can disappear like it’s not even in the building.”
The new audio system features six L-Acoustics line arrays made up of 12 dV-DOSC cabinets with two groups of SB28 subwoofers, L-Acoustic LA8 amplifiers and a Yamaha M7CL digital console.
AVDB (Audio Video Design Build) Group, that also was the integrator for St. Pete Times Forum, the home of the Tampa Bay Lightning, handled the installation.
In order to complete this process, a 135-pound boom lift was needed to lift the steel. By getting rid of close to 15,000 pounds off old PA equipment the structural strength of the roof was strengthened.
“I found myself each game traveling around with a notepad sitting it just about every seat in the arena,” says Rosenbaum. “We can put115 dB at every single seat. It is literally a rock and roll concert at a hockey game.”
