Memorial Fund established for Ron Scalise children college education

Kurt Heitmann and the good people at CP Communications have established a memorial trust fund in honor of ESPN and sports industry audio legend Ron Scalise that will be used for the college education of his three children: Rosario, 16, RJ, 11, and his daughter Brenna, 10. At the request of the family this will be the only fund established to limit confusion. For more information on donating to the fund please click on this story.

The SVG is heading to Kansas City, home to some of the world's leading stadium and venue architectural firms, for the first-annual Sports Venue Technology Summit. Sports stadium, arena architects, integrators, broadcasters and vendors will come together to discuss new technology trends in scoreboard, HDTV, truck bay, and video production control room design.

For two years, SVG's mobile broadcast advisory council has been working closely with relevant industry associations, and leading stadium architects/designers to produce a stadium specification document for mobile broadcast production vehicles.

With the rapid expansion of new stadium construction, as well as the escalating importance of broadcast and scoreboard/signage technologies in today's stadium designs - it is more important than ever for the broadcasters to meet the builders and share their relative viewpoints on ways for improve these ever-sophisticated, networked, HD, live performance platform

The One Day Summit Program will cover these vital issues:


  • Stadium/Arena Truck Bay Design Project
    The majority of the day will be spent introduction a recently completed project laucnhed by the Sports Video Group in association with leading architects and venue professionals. Together we have built a series of CAD drawings and documents designed to make venues more broadcaster friendly while minimizing costs. PLEASE NOTE: ALL ATTENDEES WILL RECEIVE A COMPLIMENTARY COPY OF THE CAD DRAWINGS AND DOCUMENTS

  • Broadcast Sports Production: Making it Work
    How can broadcasters, architects, and facility personnel work more closely together and improve communication?

  • Going HD: From Scoreboards to Control Rooms
    How are venue scoreboard technologies evolving for HD needs? What new technologies make it easier for scoreboard operators to deliver HD images to those boards? And how does going HD impact venue design?
  •               
  • Get Your FIber: Venue Cabling Tips and Techniques
    Today's broadcasters require fiber connectivity to deliver HD signals but building that infrastructure adds to the bottom line of construction costs. How can those costs be minimized? If laying fiber is not a financial option what are the alternatives? And what are some recommended best practices for building cable, fiber, and IP infrastructures in a venue.
