New high-definition outside broadcast trucks may not be earth-shattering news any more, but they keep coming, and among the latest in the pipeline is the first HD vehicle for nobeo, part of the pan-Europe Euro Media Group. Accommodating between 12 and 16 Grass Valley LDK 8000 cameras, nobeo 1 is being built by systems integrator Sono, which has worked on a number of HD studios for the company, and will be used to cover sport, light entertainment, and concerts.

Nobeo 1 will have double expanding sides to provide a large production gallery. It will house a Sony MVS 8000A vision mixer with a four-ME control panel and four channels of DVE, supported by a Leitch Harris 256 x 512 video router and controlled by Broadcast Solutions VSM.

A second tier of the truck houses another production, which will be multi-purpose and contain vision and VTR equipment. There will be about 10 VT machines and approximately four EVS servers. The equipment tender for nobeo 1 will have enough room for additional production space, an edit area, or an office. The two control rooms are to be connected by a Pro Bel 576 x 576 26U Cygnus router, which offers fibre and coax inputs and will also connect to the vision mixer.

Multiple-image displays are not being used, to reduce the possibility of picture delays. Instead, monitoring will be done on 54 VTS 17-, 20-, and 24-inch units, with 40 in the production section, and seven Sony and 12 Marshall Triple 6.5-inch screens.

Audio is handled by a 56-fader Lawo mc266 console, with an HD-Core Nova73 8192 x 8192 router offering 192 DSP channels. This will allow two separate Dolby E mixes to be accommodated at the same time.

The new truck was originally scheduled to be launched this month, but a nobeo spokesman says it will now be introduced in October.
