Tianjin
TV, one of
China's
leading independent broadcasters, equipped its Outside Broadcast vans for
their Olympic coverage with Vision Head and Tripod systems and Pro-Ped
Pedestals from Vinten, a Vitec Group brand.
Vinten Vector Pan and Tilt Heads are already in use in the station's recently
refurbished studio, upgraded for HDTV. “The Vector Head is ideal for our
new studio environment,” said Song Xiusheng, of the Technical Management Office
at Tianjin TV. “It is easy to adjust with the Vinten Perfect Balance
system and has a high capacity payload. It can also support the
teleprompters that we use.”
For outside broadcast of the Olympics, Tianjin TV equipped its
OB vans with ten Vision 100 Pan and Tilt Head and Tripod
systems, two Vision 250 Pan and Tilt Heads and four Pro-Ped OB Pedestals.
The Vision 100 is designed for demanding
OB
environments, where total reliability and precise camera control are paramount.
Combining Vinten's unique Perfect Balance counterbalance system with the latest
Thin Film (TF) drag mechanism, the Vision 100 delivers complete control and
consistent performance, even in the most difficult or fast moving broadcasting
conditions. The Vision 100 system supports camera payloads of from 15 lbs to 44
lbs (7 kg to 20 kg).
The Vision 250 has set new standards in studio production and
OB
applications. With a choice of easily interchangeable ball or flat bases,
the Vision 250 can be mounted on any pedestal or tripod, making it one of the
most versatile heads available. Like the Vision 100, the Vision 250 also
has the Vinten Perfect Balance and TF drag system, so it requires little effort
to operate, even over a prolonged
OB
broadcast. The Vision 250 system supports camera payloads of from 22 to
72.8 lbs (10 to 33 kg).
Designed with outstanding stability and robustness, the Pro-Ped OB Pedestal is
a two stage system. The lower stage is balance assisted to give simple
elevation while the upper stage provides Perfect Balance and on-shot movement.
The Pro-Ped OB Pedestal supports payloads up to 121 lbs (55 kg), and provides
effortless elevation from 26.2 to 58.4“ (66.6 to 148.5 cm).

China,” said Mr. Song “so our
camera crews are very familiar with the system. We all have complete
confidence in the quality of the Vinten equipment and appreciate its
reliability during high profile events for us like the Olympics.”
The Tianjin Television Station, based in the Heping district of Tianjin City,
recently refurbished its primary studio, which is predominantly used for live
show productions, by upgrading all the analogue systems to digital
technology.
Tianjin
also upgraded its complete video system to HDTV, and is now producing all its large
scale productions -- in both stereo HD and SD formats.
