Akamai’s NAB Stream Dreams

Akamai’s NAB booth will give attendees a chance to view an array of technologies that help deliver content to the Internet. The Akamai Stream OS, for example, is a Web-based suite of configurable tools that enable easy publishing of rich media to the Web, detailed usage reports and rights management.

Akamai says the services make it easy for content owners to manage and deliver media including WindowsMedia, RealMedia, QuickTime, Flash, MP3, software downloads, and electronic documents. Akamai Stream OS has helped the NHL and CBS Sportsline increase distribution and profit from their content. 

Akamai also offers Dynamic Site Accelerator to speed up and secure delivery of dynamically-assembled Web sites to consumers without costly IT buildouts.

Despite Internet traffic that’s increasing 50% year over year, the capacity required to deliver a high-quality HD Internet experience does exist. Akamai says its efforts to build out on the ‘edge’ of the Internet, is an important part of meeting demand.
