TSL is rolling out a new range of intelligent Mains Distribution Units (MDUs) at NAB 2008. The company says the new Power Manager Series allows broadcasters to take complete control of their technical infrastructure, providing flexible power management solutions.

The flagship MDU-12PM, the broadcast industry’s first premium, remote Power Management MDU is complimented by the MDU-12-PA (Power Alert unit), mid-range MDU14-CO (Change Over unit) and entry-level MDU-14-B (Power Standard unit).

The new portfolio delivers solutions for all broadcasters irrespective of size. From the Power Standard unit, which provides 14 fused IEC outlets at superior density, to the Power Manager unit that offers full SNMP alarm monitoring plus a host of other features, including sixteen GPI inputs for the remote management of non-networked rack hardware, TSL can meet all requirements.

The MDU14-CO provides broadcasters with a Change-Over 1RU MDU that automatically switches to a redundant power supply in the event of a power failure, providing 100 per cent power up time.

The Power Manager Unit (MDU-12-PM) features include:
* Remote Ethernet control of the 12 separate outputs via secure web browser
*  Sequential, immediate or user–configured delayed output start up
* 16 x opto-isolated GPI alarm inputs
* Ethernet SNMP alarms and e-mail alerts for all 16 x GPIs and 12 x fuses
*  Ethernet input power failure alarm
* Internal temperature sensor with adjustable SNMP alarm
* 16 amp double pole switch breaker
* RS232 setup port via front and rear mounted connectors (RJ11 and D9)

David Phillips, TSL’s CEO comments, “This new range further highlights TSL’s Product Division’s strong commitment to the marketplace. The flagship MDU-12PM has sophisticated technology previously unseen in MDUs until today. The MDU14-CO delivers automatic switching between the power source in the event of a mains failure plus comprehensive status LED monitoring. Following this demonstration at NAB, we look forward to announcing some major sales in the very near future.”
