Envivio Inc., the technology provider of IP video
convergence encoding solutions from mobile to HD, 4Caster C4 convergence
encoding system is the world’s first to provide video compression for all three
screens of consumer video – TVs, PCs and mobile devices – on a single platform.
Designed to enable fixed line and mobile network operators to deliver content
simultaneously across the full range of consumer devices, the C4 platform is
able to take multiple channels of content and encode them simultaneously to
deliver multiple mobile TV profiles, multiple Internet TV profiles, or SD and
HD IPTV profiles.
This new release of the 4Caster C4 adds support for high definition encoding,
as well as 3GPP and 3GPP2 mobile streaming profiles for unicast mobile TV.
These new features join the product’s existing support for quad channel
standard definition encoding for IPTV and quad channel VGA and QVGA encoding
for Internet TV. Having all compression operations performed by a single,
flexible encoding platform offers operators significant capital savings and
operational efficiencies.
“Consumer demands and operators’ requirements are expanding constantly,” said
Julien Signès, President and CEO of Envivio, “The C4 encoder provides operators
with a compression platform that delivers a full range of services today, but
which is also flexible enough to accommodate these changing requirements in the
future.. Our unique Intel-based architecture enables us to evolve our product
features and compression performance rapidly to ensure that Envivio, and our
customers, stay ahead of the competition”.
The 4Caster C4 is a high-availability hardware platform with an ultra-flexible
embedded software encoding core that enables customers to alter the compression
capabilities of the encoder as needed with a simple software license key. This
unique compression architecture offers levels of service flexibility and
encoding performance upgradeability not possible with traditional hardware-only
encoding platforms. Encoding performance can be upgraded with each software
release without the need to buy and install new hardware. New services,
features and device profiles can be added with simple software upgrades.
Operators can even entirely transform an encoder’s usage, effortlessly changing
resolutions, codecs and bandwidths without the need for a hardware change.
