SES AMERICOM will have a live demonstration of its IP-PRIME HD-4 service at NAB. The turnkey IPTV service, which originates from the company’s IPTV broadcast center in Vernon Valley, NJ, is the only national, commercially available MPEG-4-based video system.
The broadcast center receives high-end video programming and content from a wide variety of TV networks and then transports it via satellite to video hubs and consumer set-top boxes. The center houses an IP-based satellite acquisition/distribution hub, MPEG-4 encoding system, and network-monitoring center. It is able to carry hundreds of channels, including 20-plus HDTV channels.
Centerpiece of the HD-PRIME cable neighborhood is the new Triple Feed Antenna program. The company is inviting cable-system operators to join the AMERICOM neighborhood of headends, under which qualified system operators receive a package comprising a 3.8-meter C-band antenna with all the required labs, cables, and mount—at no charge, including shipping.
The company will highlight AMERICOM Business Network, an extensive reseller program. Also on exhibit will be capacity on the upcoming AMC-21, an all–Ku-band satellite operating from the 125 degrees west longitudinal orbital position. In addition to providing comprehensive 50-state coverage, it will feature high-power coverage of the Gulf of Mexico, Central America, and the Caribbean.
In addition, attendees will be able to learn more about other SES AMERICOM satellites, including the recently launched AMC-14, servicing the 61.5 degrees west longitudinal orbital position.
IP-PRIME customer Home2US will have a live feed of its direct-to-home (DTH) international-programming service. The Korean News Network, YTN, the Ethiopian TV Network, and Kenya Live TV are part of the Home2US lineup, currently delivered to DTH ethnic audiences over AMC-4.
ASTRA Platform Services will also be on hand demonstrating the Blucom service, currently available in Europe.
