The Sports Video Group today announced it will hold the industry's first-annual League Technology Summit on Tuesday, Dec. 12, 2006, at New York's Hilton Hotel. The one-day event will bring together top league and team executives with their broadcast, broadband, mobile partners and technology providers.
"This Summit will deliver the clearest picture of where our industry is going and what the content providers view as their priorities and new directions," says SVG Editorial Director Ken Kerschbaumer. "The leagues, teams, their distribution partners and the remote production community are building the business of sports with advanced technologies and we'll discuss all of them."
The Summit will be highlighted by the First Annual Sports Video Hall of Fame, created to acknowledge lifetime achievement in the field of sports television production and engineering. Past and present industry leaders will become the foundation for this annual industry recognition event. Inductees of the first Hall of Fame class will be announced at a later date.
"Over the years many industry professionals behind the scenes have dedicated their lives to advancing sports production and defined the craft of shooting, directing, and producing live TV sports," says Kerschbaumer. "We believe formal recognition of their efforts is a fitting tribute for the luminaries who gave so much behind the scenes."
The Summit itself will provide an in-depth and authoritative overview of current and future technology strategies for leagues, teams, distribution partners, and related vendors. Panels will include representatives from the National Football League, the National Basketball Association, Major League Baseball, the National Hockey League, NASCAR, PGA Tour Productions, and major sports broadcasters, manufacturers and remote production companies.
Each panel session will focus in on specific technology challenges and opportunities. Topics include:
—Going Mobile: Small-Screen Production
—Building Better Broadband: Technology Tips and Trends
—Listen Up! Surround Sound Challenge
—Archiving and Storage: Building a Legacy
—On The Road Again: Remote Production Technology Update
—Total HD: Are We There Yet?
Announcements of participating keynote speakers, panelists and
sponsorship opportunities will be made in the upcoming weeks.
