SVG and more than 275 sport industry professionals came
together on Sunday night at the
RAI
Center in
Amsterdam
to honor France Televisions and SFP for technology innovation related to the 2007
Tour de France.
The awards were presented by SVG editorial director Ken
Kerschbaumer, Chyron’s David Ward and Steven Jenkins of Isilon Systems.
For the first time ever the Tour was broadcast in HD,
requiring a complex mix of wireless HD technology that was developed jointly by
France Televisions and SFP.
“In the beginning of 2007 wireless HD transmission systems
were still a dream so to see SFP
and
France Televisions deploy the technology for a race that spans more than 3,500
kilometers is one of the true technical leaps of the year,” said Kerschbaumer.
The event was sponsored by Chyron, Isilon Systems, Linear
Acoustic, TVBEurope magazine, IBC and the Sports Video Group, a U.S.-based
sport technology association.
