Quantel strengthens sales division

Quantel has further strengthened its US marketing muscle by hiring three new sales professionals covering the whole of the U.S. and Canada.  Manuel De Pena was appointed Vice President of Sales, Eastern Region and Canada. Charlie Taylor was named Vice President of Sales, Central Region and James Howard has joined Quantel as Northwest Regional Sales Manager. De Pena and Taylor will report to Quantel North American CEO, Tom McGowan. Howard will report to Eric Thorne, Vice President of Sales, Western Region.

Prior to joining Quantel, De Pena worked seven years as head of sales, Asia and Latin America for Anystream, a metadata management and transcoding solutions company. Before that he served as Regional Vice President for the internet consulting company, iXL. De Pena will manage five Sales Managers, responsible for selling the entire Quantel product line. “I’m extremely excited about the opportunity to join Quantel. Their technological solutions excel within the applications they serve, and Quantel’s customer first attitude is second to none,” said De Pena.

Taylor comes to Quantel by way of Zaxel Systems, a leading developer of digital video compression systems. Prior to Joining Zaxel he worked as an independent consultant after having spent 24 years as Senior Vice President of Broadcast and Production, Sony Corporation. “I plan on re-establishing Quantel in the Central Region as the premiere vendor for post production and broadcast solutions,” said Taylor. “I think it is refreshing to be with a company that has so many products and so much to take to market. Making the technology transparent to the user has always been a Quantel strength.”

Howard brings nearly 30 years of broadcast television experience to Quantel. He was global sales director for VCI Automation, and prior to that was North American SI Channel Manager for Omnibus Systems. His vendor experience began at Harris Broadcast, starting out as a project manger, culminating as the National Accounts Manager for automation. “It's great to be surrounded by such a professional group of people,” said Howard. “Quantel’s purpose-driven product line is having a huge impact on the industry, and has been well received.
