Holophone is giving IBC 2008 attendees a sneak peak at its new high-end 5.0 surround microphone by previewing the H5-X at this year’s show.

Designed specifically with critical recording situations in mind, the H5-X features five high-quality small-diaphragm mic elements arranged to help capture recordings that have high-spec and low noise floor.  This makes the H5-X ideal for highly detailed 5.0 surround recordings where minimal background noise is required.  Similar to other microphones in the Holophone line, the H5-X is able to effortlessly capture a surround recording from a single point, offering users a professional-grade recording with minimal setup time.

“As surround continues to strengthen its foothold in the broadcast industry, there is a emerging demand for the highest quality recording possible,” says Michael Godfrey, CEO of Holophone.  “With the high sensitivity and high SPL of the H5-X, users will be able to create an extremely precise, immersive 3-D environment for their viewers”.

In addition to superior audio quality, the H5-X also offers a variety of connection options.  Its head is detachable from the multi-channel audio snake via a high-quality 24K gold multi-pin connector.  This allows for multiple cabling options. The H5-X is expected to come to market in late 2009.
