Senior Vice President, Operations and Technology NBA
Entertainment Steve Hellmuth rejoined NBA Entertainment in the newly created
position of Senior Vice President, Operations and Technology, in December 2000.
He is responsible for overseeing the league’s Information Technology, Broadcast
Operations and Engineering departments and managing the development for the
NBA’s and WNBA’s network of web sites. Hellmuth also oversees the development
and implementation of the NBA Facility Standards for the design, construction
and operation of NBA arenas.
Hellmuth spent two years as the Senior Vice President and General Manager of
Major League Baseball Productions, where he supervised the programming and
production of all MLB television content, the historical archives of all film
and video, specials with network partners and the creation of a new MLB
statistics system.
Prior to joining Major League Baseball, Hellmuth served as Vice President,
Operations for NBA Entertainment and was responsible for the technical and operational
planning, and management for NBAE. He also oversaw the creation of broadcast
standards for new arena design and the design of a real-time statistics system.
Before Hellmuth’s initial nine-year tenure at the NBA, he served as General
Manager for Potomac Television Communications in
Washington,
D.C.
He also worked at NBC in
New York City
from 1979 to 1987 serving as Production Manager for the sports division.
Hellmuth produced the Emmy nominated telecast openings for the 1986 World
Series, and coordinated the production of Olympic profiles for the 1980
Moscow games. Hellmuth
graduated from
Princeton
University in 1975 with a
Bachelors Degree in Art History. He resides in
New Jersey with his wife, Theresa, and their
children, Alexandra and Nick.
