Stereoscopic
3D continues to make gains across the industry as sports broadcasters and
leagues like the NBA and BBC experiment with new ways to virtually put fans
in the arena or stadium. In anticipation of a potentially huge market, Quantel
will offer NAB attendees a chance to see its new Pablo stereoscopic 3D
post-production system in action.
“We
expect very large crowds, and an enthusiastic response after they see the presentation,”
says Tom McGowan, CEO, Quantel North Amrica.
Roger
Thornton, Quantel head of publicity, adds that Quantel is leading the way in
making stereo 3D post production a viable proposition. “We have the only
technology capable of playing back and color correcting, etc. both 'eyes'
simultaneously at high resolution, which is a fundamental requirement for fast,
creative stereo 3D post,” he says.
Quantel
will also feature some new HD products at the show. Quattro is Quantel's new
release for all of its editing and color correction products.
“Those
include the world's first resolution co-existent multilayer timeline,
particularly useful where archive is being mixed in with newly shot material,
as so often happens in sports packages,” adds McGowan.
