At NAB 2008, Glowpoint Inc., an IP-based video
communications service provider, will be demonstrating live two-way
communications in full 720/60p. Glowpoint pioneered two-way interactive broadcasting
at the 2003 NFL Draft delivering SD feeds between all 32 NFL team sites and
their clients.
“Maintaining cost-effective, ultra-clean, and proactively
maintained IP network connections for our clients is our mission in this
industry,” says Dan Boland, Glowpoint VP, Broadcast & Digital Media.
Glowpoint provides high-definition interactive broadcasting
for the Big Ten Network, as well as for other sports broadcasting networks and
leagues. According to Boland, Glowpoint clients are collectively driving the
economics of IP interactive broadcasting directly into their respective
broadband interests. “The value that we provide in supporting live broadcasting,”
he says, “is especially valuable in broadband as an alternative for satellite
and much more expensive terrestrial IP alternatives.”
Glowpoint’s service provides broadcast-quality images and
network reliability. “With our subscription-based, always-on, all-you-can-eat model,”
says Boland, “our broadcasters take full advantage of capturing volumes of new
fresh content into their programming.”
