Rule Broadcast adds Canon lenses

Rule Broadcast Systems, the largest TV equipment rental and sales company in New England, recently strengthened its inventory of advanced portable EFP lenses with Canon Broadcast s High Definition HJ17ex7.7B IRSE lens, HJ11ex4.7B IRSE Wide-Angle lens, and the Standard Definition J35ex11B IASD SD telephoto lens.
Tom Talbot, director of sales and marketing at Rule Broadcast Systems, says Rule Broadcast’s purchase of two HJ17ex7.7B IRSE HD EFP lenses and an HJ11ex4.7B IRSE Wide-Angle HD lens is designed to serve an increasing number of HD production clients.
“High Definition really appeals to our customer base,”says Talbot. “A lot of people know there is a transition going on and they re choosing to buy HD lenses not only because they produce the pure, clean imagery, but also because HD lenses are an investment in the future. In the years to come, we expect HD to become the norm.”

Canon’s HJ17 lens is a wide-angle HD zoom weighing only 3.83 lbs. for maximum portability and versatility in EFP (electronic field production) applications. It also has a focal length ranging from 7.7mm to 131mm (15.4mm to 262mm with Extender). The Canon HJ11 Wide-Angle zoom, meanwhile, is intended for producers and broadcasters needing extremely wide-angle shooting with minimum chromatic aberrations and geometric distortion (at the widest angle). Featuring a focal length of from 4.7mm to 52mm (9.4mm to 104mm with Extender), the HJ11 Wide-Angle HD lens weighs just 4.3 lbs.

Both lenses also have the eDrive feature, allowing users to automate multiple digital functions depending on their personal preferences. With eDrive, users can program functions like zoom and focus settings into a lens for precise, automated repeatability via an easy-to-use LCD menu, assignable “soft” function buttons, and the rocker switch built into the lens grip.
