ESPN HD events hit 1,000 with Sox game

The Cleveland Indians will host the Boston Red Sox on Thursday at 7 p.m. on ESPN2 HD, marking the 1000th event across ESPN HD and ESPN2 HD. The high-definition ESPN networks surpass this milestone just 15 months after the launch of ESPN s second HD service.

We have always said that we would focus on the quality of our HD events versus the quantity of our events, said Bryan Burns, vice president strategic planning and business development, ESPN. However, three years later with 1000 major events across two services, our top quality has been joined by the quantity that discerning HDTV customers desire.
