Fantasy Baseball Comes to Real Television

by Carolyn Braff

For baseball fans, Time Warner Cable has just brought the world of fantasy one step closer to reality. The company has introduced an interactive TV feature that allows customers to receive updated statistics about their personalized fantasy baseball team on their TV screens while watching other programming. The service is free of charge to all Time Warner DVR customers.

The Fantasy Baseball Tracker allows users to input their personal team roster and view updated game scores, leaderboards, roster updates, and player news without leaving their television. Users can choose a screen, a Stats Line single ticker, or a full-screen display, all of which may be personalized to provide only the information that the baseball fan wants to see, when he wants to see it.

Our technology lets fans check on all their specific fantasy baseball team players without having to run to their computers in the middle of a game, Tim Peters, chief of BIAP systems, the company that provides the system s technology, said in a statement.

Time Warner has worked with El Paso, Texas-based BIAP in the past, creating interactive features for fantasy football, the winter Olympics, and a tracking application for eBay auctions.

The Fantasy Baseball Tracker has been tested in Green Bay, WI, and the initial launch will bring the application to Austin, Texas; San Antonio, Texas; and Columbia, South Carolina.
