Euro1080 Uses Modulus Video encoders for World Cup Coverage

Modulus Video’s ME6000 High Definition MPEG-4/AVC video encoder has been purchased by Euro1080, Europe’s first HDTV media company and installed at Euro1080’s broadcast operations headquarters in Belgium, to support a wide range of HD programming, including coverage of the FIFA World Cup tournament on its channel HD2.

Gabriel Fehervari, CEO of Euro1080, said, “Broadcasting HD images via
satellite requires a delicate balance between managing your available
bandwidth and delivering the pristine image quality the HD viewer expects.
With its ME6000 encoder, Modulus Video has delivered an MPEG-4 AVC platform that combines efficiency and superior image quality — just the recipe needed for succeeding with HD today. We were very satisfied with the
results of our use of the ME6000 encoder at the occasion of the Turin
Winter Olympics, the FIFA World Cup and many other top events.”

“Euro1080 probably has the most experience using MPEG-4 AVC to deliver
HD television services to consumers,” said Bob Wilson, chairman and CEO of
Modulus Video. “As Europe’s HDTV leader, Euro1080 understands the technical and market challenges best and we are very proud that their knowledge has led them to select the Modulus Video ME6000 HD AVC encoder. This is a great example of how the ME6000 can support HD delivery in any managed bandwidth delivery model, whether satellite or IP.”
