Avid DNXHD optimize EVS servers

In order to meet the broadcast industry’s growing requirement for high definition HD production and post production solutions, EVS Broadcast Equipment announces Avid DNxHD can be natively encoded and decoded by its XT[2] production and playout server.
The Avid DNxHD High Definition codec is engineered to optimize non-linear editing, complex multi-generation compositing, color correction and effects, offering the image quality of uncompressed HD material at standard-definition data rates. Avid DNxHD technology supports the MXF standard, thereby ensuring that media can be exchanged with other MXF-compatible systems, such as EVS devices.
This native support allows XT[2] servers to deliver broadcasters
direct access to clips and media in live and near live environments
such as sports or news production, where Avid(r) systems are the tool
of choice for post production. The EVS XT[2] is the first production
server to offer such interoperability with the Avid DNxHD format, and allows broadcasters to develop more powerful and integrated workflows
in an open environment, using best of breed tools. For EVS, flexibility is the key to ensure the production and playout server’s long service life. Today, XT[2] servers support multiple broadcast standards such as MJPEG, MPEG2 I-Frame, IMX, XDCAM, P2, thereby allowing the customer to better control the workflow.
The transfer process between EVS production servers and Avid post
production systems, currently available in IMX SD, is transparent,
fast and easy. Likewise, the exchange of high definition media in the
Avid DNxHD codec, between EVS XT[2] production and playout servers and Avid post-production devices such as the Media Composer Adrenaline system and the Avid Unity MediaNetwork, will require no extra encoding/decoding. This results in a faster transfer with while
maintaining the full raster of the original images.
Movement of content will be managed directly by IP Director, the EVS video production management software, which allows for full control of the XT[2] server and XFile[2] gateway and archive systems. Clips and media can be seamlessly transferred to an Avid system ready for editing.
