Slate 1000 Switcher from Broadcast Pix Wins STAR Award

The substantial buzz
surrounding Slate live video production systems from Broadcast Pix Inc.
resulted in a STAR Award from the editors of TV Technology Europe magazine
during the recent IBC 2006 convention held in Amsterdam.

Broadcast Pix Inc. continues
to advance live television production with new innovations that enable solo
operators on limited budgets to create a high-end look. The Slate 1000 includes
a switcher control panel, Inscriber character generator (CG), four hour clip
store, and multi-view monitoring of program, preview, sources and keys.

Broadcast Pix is honored to
be named as a recipient of TV Technology s STAR award at IBC 2006. said Ken
Swanton, President, Broadcast Pix. Editors at the show have recognized the
Slate switchers as a clear progression of live video production switching that
makes it easy for a solo operator to create compelling live television. Unlike
a conventional studio-in-a-box, the Slate 1000 has a great control panel.
And unlike a conventional switcher, it comes with a multi-view monitor, and not
only switches cameras, it intimately controls the built-in graphics and clips
and can control cameras as well.

Broadcast Pix introduced the
Slate brand during April s NAB2006 convention with the Slate 100, a
touch-screen based model starting under $10k. The Slate 100 won a Pick Hit
award at the InfoComm exposition from Sound & Video Contractor magazine,
who said it is about as intuitive as it can get. Touch a graphic or a moving
video source with your finger, and it goes live.

All Slate switchers have a
switcher on a computer card (patent pending), that is closely coupled to the
included rack mounted workstation s clip store, still store and Inscriber CG.
The computer display provides full-motion monitoring of program, preview,
cameras and content, so separate video monitors are no longer needed but can
still be added. The Slate 1000 can mix up to eight SDI digital and analog
live video inputs plus five graphic sources and two clip channels. It has three
keyers each with picture in picture. Slate 100 and 1000 customer shipments
began in August of this year.
