SVG League Tech Summit a resounding success as more than 400 top execs gather in NYC

The Sports Video Group held its first-annual League Technology Summit on Dec. 12 at the New York Hilton Hotel and more than 400 sports industry professionals representing every size and stripe of TV network, league, truck services partner and 25 equipment manufacturers braved NYC’s pre-Holiday crowds and prices (thankfully not the weather as it was downright balmy) for a day of networking and learning.

While in-depth topic discussions covering everything from the transition to complete HD sports productions, the state of the remote production truck business, future wireless video devices and more drew standing-room only crowds a simple exhibit area with an emphasis on people and casual conversation provided a solid networking opportunity.

“The SVG has been absolutely overwhelmed with the positive response from both attendees and sponsors,” said Ken Kerschbaumer, SVG Editorial Director. “We could not be more pleased with the way the event turned out and we’re already looking forward next year’s event.”

Other highlights included an overview of broadband video technology, an in-depth update of the current state of White Spaces legislation in Washington, DC but David Donovan, president of MSTV, a discussion of storage and archiving technology, and insights into proper Surround Sound mixing and delivery.

The SVG also announced a number of industry-wide initiatives at the event. An online Venue Database with NBA and NHL arena contact information and camera position data is available to Showmgr.com clients and users while an online EVS Operator Database will help sports TV event crewers locate qualified operators at a moment’s notice.

The SVG is also proud to announce that Podcasts will soon be available for all SVG members on the SVG Website. “A number of our members were not able to attend the event and they asked us if there would be a way for them to catch up on the in-depth, vital discussions,” said Kerschbaumer. “In our effort to continue to enhance the industry as an informational exchange resource we’ll be making all the content available by early next week.”
