O21 Television snaps up Pro-Bel routers for HD push

O21 Television, an outside broadcast company based in Birmingham UK and operating across Europe, has purchased and installed Pro-Bel HD routing and router control technology in the first step of a multi-million pound expansion programme.

O21 Television, which was acquired by Gravity Media Group early last year, commissioned the construction of Unit 8, the fleet’s flagship vehicle, as the first phase of this expansion programme. Built by specialists ASGB (more commonly known as Smiths) it is a 13.6m long HD production truck. It benefits from a three-tier production gallery and a carefully ergonomically designed layout based on extensive customer research.

Extending Pro-Bel’s success in the outside broadcast market, the truck is equipped with a Sirius Gold 512 x 512 router as well as a Sirius 256 x 256 AES router. The company’s Aurora router control technology has also been installed.

“When it came to selecting the solutions for Unit 8 we wanted not only cutting edge technology but also product that we know to be reliable from suppliers that we are familiar with. Pro-Bel and its technology fitted those requirements,” explains Kevin Moorhouse, Gravity Media Group’s Technical Director.

Adrian Scott, Chief Marketing Officer, Pro-Bel, adds, “Pro-Bel’s Sirius Gold product has achieved tremendous success in the OB market with its combination of reliability and technical prowess. We are very happy that 021 has recognised this with the construction of Unit 8.”
