ESPN taps HD for NASCAR Busch Series Coverage

ESPN and ESPN on ABC will be producing the most technologically sound motorsports coverage in history for all of their programming will be produced entirely in HD. The fun begins February 17th on ESPN2 with the

Orbitz 300, the opening race in the Busch Series.

Every aspect of the Busch race from the cameras inside the car to cameras in the pit crews will all be produced in HD. They will be the first to have HD inside the car shots. The technology we are bringing through the chase of the championship from cable cams to our HD pit cameras to all of our specialty shots we are well above 55 cameras, said Neil Goldberg Senior Motorsports Producer, ESPN and ABC.

NASCAR to change over all of the technology everything had to be very small and of very light weight. As technology gets better on your TV in your home, our guys have got to make it smaller that is our biggest challenge, said Goldberg.

ESPN will feature 17 NASCAR NEXTEL Cup races this season including the 10-race “Chase for the NASCAR NEXTEL Cup” championship airing on ABC.
ESPN2 will be the exclusive home to the NASCAR Busch Series with six events airing on ABC. This event precedes the Daytona 500 airs February 18th on FOX.

As far as cameras are concerned you are going to see virtually no difference between the coverage in the Busch race on ESPN and the Daytona 500 on FOX, said Goldberg.
