Dayang to launch D3-Edit HD9 workstation

Dayang’s new D3-Edit HD9 high-definition workstation, to be launched at NAB 2007, is a complete audio/video editor, multi-layer effects system, title generator and graphics animator in a single accessibly-priced unit, D3-Edit HD9 allows five layers of HD stream playout to be performed in real time with 3D DVEs active on the top four layers. High-grade 12-bit real-time chroma-key, luma-key, graphics and title key matte extraction are incorporated, including fine mask adjustment to ensure a clean and vivid foreground.

“The design brief was to shrink the divide between live and offline environments with a single workstation that can be used in an multiplicity of HD, SD and hybrid applications,” explains Karlton Burn, CEO of Dayang International. “A fully integrated D3-CG HD 3D graphics, titling and animation system enables D3-Edit HD9 operators to produce 3D titles and objects and deliver realtime unrendered CG scenes. Preconfigured or template-based settings can be selected rapidly in response to fast-changing events such as sports or late-breaking news. The workstation’s highly versatile graphics facilities can be used to generate attractive and memorable channel branding, prestorable for rapid on-air implementation. The HD and SD editing facilities are augmented by 12-bit primary/secondary/local colour correction together with real-time signal analysis.”

D3-Edit HD9 has four upconversion modes (window, box, margin and zoom) augmented by three downconversion modes (box, margin and zoom). Modes can be selected in any combination. Highly versatile interfacing is provided, including composite, Y/C, component, HD-SDI, SD-SDI, AES/EBU digital audio and balanced analog audio. HD video and down-converted SD video can be output simultaneously. IEEE-1394 devices such as miniDV, DVCAM, DVCPRO25/50, Panasonic P2/P2 HD and Sony XDCAM/XDCAM HD are also supported.

Audio facilities include high-precision waveform editing, audio mixing and easy interfacing with third-party audio workstations via industry-standard XML file format.
