Daktronics Provides Significant Upgrades to Tropicana Field

Tropicana
Field, home to the Tampa Bay Devil Rays, recently teamed up with Daktronics
Inc. to provide a new multimillion dollar integrated display system installed
prior the start of the 2007 Major League Baseball season. The new system
features the latest in full-color, light emitting diode (LED) display technology providing Devil Rays fans with the best
game-day experience.

“The
resolution and quality of picture is outstanding,” said Darcy Raymond,
Devil Rays Vice President of Branding and Fan Experience. “The display is
absolutely flawless, it does wonders for our fans’ experience. We chose
Daktronics because of their excellent quality, product knowledge and
exceptional service, they offered us so many value add-ons. Daktronics was by
far the best choice. It was a no-brainer.”

The focal
point of the installation is a ProStar VideoPlus display measuring approximately
36 feet high by 64 feet wide with pixels on 23 millimeter (.90 inch) spacing.
ProStar video display

technology, available only from Daktronics, uses the latest in full-color red,
green and blue (RGB) LED technology to present live and recorded video images,
colorful animation and vivid graphics with incredible brightness and wide angle
visibility. ProStar LED video display technology offers a long lifetime with
minimal maintenance and low power consumption, providing value and excitement
for years to come.

Other
major components were two ProAd digital LED displays, located to the lower left
and right corners of the main video display. Each ProAd display measures
approximately 7 feet high by 50 feet wide with pixels on 23 millimeter (.90 inch)
spacing. Daktronics ProAd technology offers complete message flexibility. When
not recognizing sponsors, ProAd displays can show game in progress information,
team and player stats, full-color animation and cropped video clips to add entertainment
value and raise the crowd’s enthusiasm level.

Devil Rays
fans will also be informed by a Galaxy LED display providing box scores and
statistical information throughout the game. Galaxy LED matrix displays are
capable of displaying text, graphics and animation.

The new
display system will be controlled by the proven Venus 7000 controller, V-Link video
processor, and will complement a large 250 foot long ProAd fascia display
installed in 2005 and a custom Sportsound sound system installed in 2006.

“All
of us at Daktronics are once again excited to continue a successful
relationship and to provide Tropicana Field with the best entertainment and
game-day experience for Devil Rays fans,” said Kyle Adams, Regional Sales
Manager for Daktronics.
