Triveni helps cable ops, telcos monitor stream quality

Triveni Digital, a subsidiary of LG Electronics, today announced the release of the RM-40 HBE (high-bandwidth edition), the latest addition to the company’s StreamScope family of stream-quality monitoring, analysis, and troubleshooting systems. With the ability to perform complex MPEG monitoring at 1 Gb/s, the RM-40 HBE extends the comprehensive monitoring capabilities of the StreamScope RM-40 to include the entire Gigabit Ethernet stream.

“As cable operators increasingly move toward core infrastructures using GigE transport, they require the means to evaluate the full GigE stream and maintain comprehensive MPEG 2 monitoring,” said Ralph Bachofen, director of product management and marketing at Triveni Digital. “The RM-40 HBE gives the cable operator full-time monitoring of the GigE stream against MPEG-2 standards, thus ensuring that any issues can be identified quickly and addressed immediately.”

Like the StreamScope RM-40, the first stream analyzer to support the new ATSC A/78 recommended practice (Transport Stream Verification), the RM-40 HBE offers low-cost remote monitoring, measurement, recording, and analysis of DTV streams in real time to ensure their integrity, reliability, and compliance with standards. The system classifies errors in the stream by severity so that operators can first focus on issues that threaten viewing quality, and then on other problems that may affect or compromise regulatory compliance.

The RM-40 HBE can be monitored from any Web browser in the network, and can be configured to distribute alarms via email, SMS, or SNMP traps. The RM-40 HBE interfaces to Triveni Digital’s StreamScope MT-40 for further analysis and troubleshooting.
