O’s, Stadium Authority Look At Screen Replacement

Maryland
Stadium Authority officials say irreplaceable parts in the video board at
Camden Yards have malfunctioned and it soon may not be able to show a full
picture.

The Sony JumboTron will be used for Tuesday’s game against the Washington
Nationals, but one rectangular segment could be blank.

Authority executive director Alison Asti says if a segment of the board fails
permanently, they might rent a temporary

replacement or carry on with an incomplete image.

The authority warned that the board could fail when the Orioles got a court
order to keep the agency from buying a screen, saying the authority was rushing
to buy a substandard product.

The Orioles want the authority to buy a larger, high-definition screen, but the
authority says the club must chip in.

Arbitration hearings on the matter are expected to start in late summer or
early fall.
