Western Kentucky University Chooses Daktronics for New Integrated Football Display and Sound System

Ky., has chosen Daktronics Inc. to provide an integrated video, scoring and sound system as part of new renovations to L.T. Smith Stadium. The new system will feature the latest in full-color, light emitting diode (LED) display technology and will be installed prior to the 2007 Hilltoppers’ football season opener.

“We are looking forward to how the new display will greet our fans and their expressions to live video, replays and pre-game introductions on the video screen,” said Director of Athletics Wood Selig. “We look forward to people raving about the display, but most of all adding the spectacular game-day experience for our fans. Fans today have a higher level of expectation; they want to feel like they are watching the game from the comfort of their own home. We have to invest in our fans. The new video screen will make us stand out at live events. We have worked with Daktronics for years and know their excellent product quality and exceptional service.”

The state-of-the-art system features a ProStar VideoPlus display with the capabilities to present live and recorded video images, colorful animation and vivid graphics with incredible brightness and wide angle visibility. The video display will measure approximately 18 feet high by 31 feet wide with pixels on 23 millimeter spacing. ProStar technology offers a long lifetime with minimal maintenance and low power consumption, providing value and excitement for years to come.

Below the video display fans will be informed by a custom LED football scoreboard offering vital game information. To the left and right of the scoreboard are additional full color LED displays. These two displays measure approximately 7 feet high by 18 feet wide each, providing lineups, game statistics, out-of-town game information and much more.

The new display system will be controlled by the proven Venus 7000 controller, V-Link video processor and All Sport controller.

Daktronics will also provide a custom Sportsound sound system. The system, located on the top cabinet, will ensure excellent sound projection, clear and intelligible speech and a powerful audio experience. “We are proud to continue our long and successful relationship with
