Story Highlights
Tennis
stars Elena Dementieva, Amelie Mauresmo, Svetlana Kuznetsova, Marcos Baghdatis,

organizers said at a press conference at the Beijing Kerry Centre Hotel
Thursday.
Serving
Another Winner – Canon sponsors the China Open with high technology.
The 2007
China Open, to be held in Beijing from Sept. 8 to Sept. 23, will be a grander
and more spectacular event than before, according to the tournament organizing
committee. Already one of the most attractive non-Grand Slam events on the
world tennis calendar, this year’s China Open will draw on new technology,
participation by some of the world’s leading players and more than a touch of
Beijing glamour to establish itself as one of the world’s leading tennis
tournaments.
Beauty
Matchmaking: “China Open cheering squad Show” collaborates with “Miss
World
The Kappa
Tennis Cheering Squad Show, a cheerleader campaign for the China Open, has
already started, and would-be cheerleaders have been signing up with great
enthusiasm. As part of a collaboration between the 57th Miss World competition
and the China Open, the top three from the Cheerleading Show will be entered
into the final
Beijing
round of the Miss World campaign.
In order
to select the best cheering squad, put greater emphasis on their artistic
skills and voluntary service, and also help realize the dreams of girls wanting
to showcase their glamour at the China Open, the 2007 China Open Share Tennis
event will select the cheering squad.
“Fashionable,
healthy and pretty” will be the common standard when selecting the best
for both the Kappa Tennis Cheering Squad Show and Miss World. The two events
will therefore be working closely together in the interests of “beauty
matchmaking.”
Theme Song
Contest of
China
Open
The
curtain for the 2007 China Open theme song contest will soon fall. Arranged by
the China Open organizing committee and run by
Beijing’s Zhu Shu Group, this contest has
lasted almost three months. The objective is to find the theme song for the
China Open. The contest received over 1,300 songs in total from
China and
abroad, and more than a million people participated. It caught the attention of
over 100 print media, radio channels and internet media, making it one of the
hottest musical events of the first half of 2007. By the end of the fifth round
of online polling, a total of 342 compositions were lined up in front of the
professional judges, including 91 amateur songs, 209 amateur demos and 42
professional demos.
After
lengthy deliberations by the seven professional judges — deliberations that
took professionalism, entertainment value, catchiness and production values
into consideration — both the amateur and the professional judges short-listed
their respective top tens from the 342 songs.
Clearly,
sport and music will combine harmoniously at this year’s tournament. We
strongly believe that enthusiasm, passion and style will represent the spirit
of the 2007 China Open.
