KC Wizards Ticket Sales Surpass 20,000 for Beckham match

The Kansas
City Wizards announced that the team has surpassed the 20,000 tickets sold
plateau for the match September 27 against the Los Angeles Galaxy and
international superstar David Beckham. Advanced sales breaks the club record
for a match, and the game is still more than two months away.

“Seats
are selling very fast,” Vice President of Sales Todd Adams said. “In
order to be guaranteed a good seat for the match, fans need to purchase their
tickets soon. We are excited about the number of fans already committed to
attend the game, but we’re still pushing to get as many people as possible from

Kansas City and the entire

Midwest
into Arrowhead Stadium for this exciting event.”

The
Wizards look to the match, broadcast live nationally on ESPN 2, as potentially
the highest-ever single-game attendance for a Wizards game held at Arrowhead
Stadium.

Kansas City
drew 30,308 September 20, 2003 for a match against the San Jose Earthquakes.
The highest attendance for a soccer match at Arrowhead is 37,319 for a World
Cup Qualifier between the

United States
and

Costa Rica
held on April 25, 2001.

“This
is an important benchmark for us.” Executive Vice President Greg Cotton
said. “Without question, this is the

Midwest
sporting event of the year, and we’re pleased with the initial response. This
match provides a great opportunity to showcase our exciting brand of soccer and
first-class customer service to individuals who might not otherwise attend a
Wizards game this season. We’re confident once you come to one game, you’ll
want to come back.”
