MSG to air Roy Jones Jr. vs. Anthony Hanshaw Replay

MSG
announced today that the network will air the cable television replay premiere
of Roy Jones Jr.’s bout against talented contender Anthony Hanshaw on Saturday,
August 4 at 8:00 pm. The 12-round bout, entitled “He’s Baack! Witness The
Return Of A King,” was fought at the light heavyweight limit of 175 pounds and
ended Jones’ one-year layoff. The fight, previously aired via pay-per-view, was
produced live by MSG from the Mississippi Coast Coliseum and Convention Center
in

Biloxi,
MS on Saturday, July 14. MSG’s Sam Rosen
called the blow-by-blow with Tony Paige providing expert analysis and Michael
Marley handling in-ring interviews.

Legendary boxer Roy Jones Jr. (51-4, 38
KOs),
a former five-time world champion in four different weight classes, is not
ready for retirement just yet. Jones was out to prove that he still has plenty
of rounds left in him and has what it takes to become a world champion once
again. His last fight took place in July 2006 when he captured the WBO NABO
light heavyweight title from Prince Badi Ajamu in a 12 round unanimous
decision. His comeback continued when he stepped into the ring against Anthony
“The Tyger” Hanshaw who was undefeated in 22 professional bouts (21-1-1, 14
KO’s) and one of the sports promising contenders. Hanshaw, coming off a draw in
January, was out to put the official end to Jones’ stellar career.

Additionally scheduled to appear on the telecast will be Derrick “Smoke” Gainer
(40-7-1, 24 KO’s) versus Carlos Navarro (27-5-1, 22 KO’s) in a 10 round
lightweight matchup. Murad Productions and Square Ring, Inc. promoted the fight
card in association with IP Casino-Resort Spa.
